The current branch at 2223 Cleveland Ave. was originally slated to close for construction on Feb. 17, but it was delayed. The library did not provide additional details on what caused the delay.
A ceremonial wallbreaking will happen at 3 p.m. on Wednesday with library and city officials in attendance. On Monday, CML opened a temporary Linden branch at 1990 Jefferson Ave. next to the Linmoor Education Center while the branch undergoes construction. The hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Sunday.
The collection size at the temporary branch will be reduced and most books there will be popular, high-interest titles. The current Linden Branch was built in 2004. The new branch, set to open in 2025, will have two levels and will be more than double the size of the current building with 27,000 square feet. The new branch will be built on the same site as the old branch.Stay up to date on what's happening in your community with a 24/7 live stream and on demand content from 10TV — available on featuring the best stories, personally curated by members of our staff and delivered via email by 6 a.m.
