- Police in Connecticut made an arrest in the Aaron Hernandez murder investigation in the former New England Patriots tight end's hometown of Bristol.
Twenty-seven-year-old Carlos Ortiz was taken into custody at his apartment on Wednesday. He's being held on a fugitive from justice warrant on $1.5 million bond."There were five detectives. Two cars were parked across the street there and then they came in and went upstairs," she says. Authorities will not say what his connection to the Odin Lloyd murder investigation might be. Officers would not say what they were looking for. No one answered the door at the home Thursday. People here are shocked by what they are hearing about Hernandez, a man many remember as a hometown hero and good kid."This is a mistake. I've known Aaron forever. I watched him and DJ run up and down the street with footballs," she says.
DJ is Aaron Hernandez' older brother. Ortiz is being held at the Hartford Correctional Center. He's waived extradition so he could be brought back to Massachusetts at any time but, like Hernandez, his file is sealed so we may not when that happens until he turns up in a Massachusetts courtroom.
