Subject to planning consent the building could be used for other purposes
A former Wetherspoon pub in Newark is to go up for auction with a guide price of £300,000-£350,000. Sir John Arderne closed in August last year.
Named after the 14th century doctor and early surgical pioneer John Arderne, who grew up in Newark, the pub was shut down as part of a programme of closures carried out by the Wetherspoon chain last year. Staff were offered jobs in other pubs.Auctioneers said the building could now be suitable for a range of different new uses, subject to planning consent, which would be required in order to make changes to the property.
“We’ve had considerable interest in the building from potential buyers and believe the premises could be split to create separate first-floor residential accommodation, potentially with two or three commercial units on the ground floor.
