Already owner of several AHSAA state records, Elba senior standout Alvin Henderson is closing in on another top state record, one he could possibly reach as early as this week.

Following Friday’s game, Elba has a final regular-season game at home against Florala next week. The Tigers will also likely have at least one state playoff game, giving Henderson at least three games to reach the needed 382 yards. With three regular-season games and at least one playoff game to play, he is within reach of becoming the 17th player in AHSAA history to reach 8,000 career yards. He is currently 551 yards away.
Hall, who earned his fourth 300-yard rushing game last week with 306, moved within 525 yards of the school record of 2,195 by Andre Golson in 1999. Hall currently has 1,670 yards rushing through seven games, averaging 238.6 yards a game.Playoff bound: Five Dothan Eagle coverage teams clinched state playoff spots last week. A handful of others pursue a spot this week.
Several others could clinch with a combination of results, including Pike County in Class 4A, Region 2 and Houston County and Ariton in Class 2A, Region 2.
