The Met Office has issued advice as a huge 490-mile-long weather system brings 70mph winds with it, as the UK experiences the last remnants of Hurricane Ernesto
The Met Office has issued a weather warning, advising households to "securely fasten doors and windows" as the UK braces for high winds reaching up to 70mph. Maps from WXCharts show that strong storm-like conditions are expected to hit Britain with blustery weather set to cover much of the country by Friday .
The Met Office recommends staying indoors as much as possible during high winds and advises against walking or sheltering near buildings and trees if outside. To prepare for the storms, the agency suggests: "Close and securely fasten doors and windows, particularly those on the windward side of the house, and especially large doors such as those on garages."
