Legendary singer Sir Rod Stewart will celebrate his 80th birthday in January 2025 and the star says he is determined to enjoy his final years, even if he can't party like before
Sir Rod Stewart has candidly opened up about his feelings on ageing, admitting he has 'a few' years left to live.
Despite acknowledging that his partying stamina isn't what it once was back in the '70s and '80s, Rod – who is married to Penny Lancaster – still relishes a good time with his band. He shared: "I'm not like I was in the '70s and '80s and I can't stay up all night, get drunk and go mad and still have a voice just like that. Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show.
Rod continued, emphasizing the lively atmosphere post-show: "You're talking to Rod Stewart here, mate. We go mad after every show. There are 13 of us, six women, really great musicians and I make them drink. We absolutely love it." And when the curtains close, the celebration begins: "After a show we all get stuck into the Martinis. Most bands all go home and go to bed but we don't. We have a big old party."
