The adverse conditions are anticipated to start on New Year's Day and last through to January 2nd. The Met Office advises checking travel conditions and preparing for potential power outages.
People across the UK are being warned to prepare for potential disruption as the country braces for four days of snow mayhem.
Initially, Scotland will face snow alerts; however, from New Year's Day, England will also see a cover of snow, while strong winds and heavy rain are set to hit other regions, as well as Wales and Scotland. The adverse conditions are anticipated to start at 9am on New Year's Day, lasting through to the early hours of January 2, at 6am.
Additionally, there was a warning: "There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties," reports the Express. Advice provided includes: "Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.
In its forecast, the Met Office said: "A deep area of low pressure is expected to cross the UK from the west, bringing a spell of very strong winds. Gusts of 65-75 mph are likely around coasts and hills, especially in the south and west, with 50-60 mph gusts likely fairly widely inland."
