All Merseyrail services between Hooton and Chester have been canceled due to flooding. Rail replacement buses are operating, and a shuttle service is running between Hooton and Liverpool city centre.

Merseyrail passengers are facing disruption this morning as all services between two stations have been cancelled due to flooding. Services were disrupted on the Chester line yesterday, January 5, due to flooding in the Capenhurst area. In an update this morning (Monday, January 6) Merseyrail confirmed no trains will be running between Hooton and Chester due to flooding in the Hooton and Ledsham area.

A yellow weather warning remains in place across Merseyside for snow and ice after a weekend of cold weather. Flood alerts were also issued for several Merseyside rivers, including the River Alt in Formby and Huyton , the River Sankey in St Helens and Warrington , and River Ditton in Huyton-with-Roby and Widnes . The Environment Agency said river levels are expected to rise and cause flooding to 'low lying ground' due to overnight snow melting and heavy rainfall. A flood alert is also in place for the Wirral catchment area with Heswall, Ellesmere Port, Bebington, Hoylake and Wallasey . This includes the Rivers Fender and Birkett and Rivacre, Dibbinsdale and Arrowe Brooks. Other locations which may be affected are around Birkenhead , Bootle , Litherland and Crosby . In an update posted on Merseyrail's website, a spokesman said: 'Due to flooding in the Hooton and Ledsham area, on Monday January 6, no trains will be running between Hooton and Chester. A rail replacement bus will be in operation between Hooton and Chester calling at all stations. 'A 30-minute train shuttle service will be running between Hooton and Liverpool city centre ... Merseyrail tickets will be accepted on Transport for Wales services between Chester and Liverpool.' The first rail replacement buses from Hooton to Chester will depart at 6.15am and 6.45am on Monday, and then every 15 and 45 minutes past the hour for the rest of the day. The last buses will depart at 11.45pm and 00.15am. In the other direction, from Chester to Hooton, the first buses will depart at 6am and 6.30a
